Candy, Jet Fuel and Moneyball

Long before we were in our professions, we sold candy out of our parent’s garage to all the kids in our NYC neighborhood. Driving revenue while doing homework on a makeshift cashier desk was our start. Building relationships with all the neighborhood kids lasted a lifetime, but we also loved being able to identify which candies outperformed others. Sour strings were .027 cents and sold for .10 – by far our best return on investment. Plus, every customer always bought at least 10.

2006


Teterboro was Anthony’s first stop in aviation. In his decade at Meridian he learned the business from the ground up. Once in the Director of Sales role, new tactics were applied as well as the infrastructure for an analytics based evaluation system – an aviation version of “Moneyball”. With the new procedures in place, the Meridian team grew Annual Gallons from 5 Million to over 8 Million per year.

After passing his CPA exam, Robert began working for Deloitte in NYC. Deloitte allowed him to be mentored by one of the top accounting firms in the world.
His CPA, combined with the Deloitte experience, prepared him in his next role in hedge funds. As Assistant Vice President of Cerberus Capital, he was able to combine his accounting experience with real world data, evaluation, and results. Rebuilding models that they still use today.

After living and conquering the corporate sector, Robert shifted focus to his core values – helping people. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming an FDNY Firefighter. The new direction allowed him to immerse himself as a first responder, while also using his CPA to start his own private practice.

2016


Miami was Anthony’s next stop in aviation, where his analytics driven approach combined with Fontainebleau Aviation’s prowess for hospitality allowed the FBO to soar from 3.8 million gallons to 7.5 million in only 3 years. Growing their market share from 25% to over 44%, while adding additional revenue streams along the way.

The Humble Heroes charity was started as a way to give back to kids in need, and has now become an integral part of our lives. With friends and family consisting of our volunteers, our visits have become more rewarding with each new mission and relationship built.
